ABOUT PATRICIA MCCAIN
I was born in the Philippines, lived in Caracus Venezuela , and lived in Hawaii since I was 2 years old. My early years were spent on Oahu, where Waikiki Beach was my playground. We then moved to the Big Island and lived in Volcano where stories of Madame Pele were an every day occurrence. I was sent to Seabury Hall on Maui, which was an all girls’ boarding school back then. I finished my high school at Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Kamuela, on the Big Island. After spending a year in Paris as an Au Pair, I got my BA/BS in Business Administration from Boston University, and my Masters in International Business at Ceram in Sophia Antipolis France.
I have 3 children all born in Hawaii. Their early years were spent in North Kohala where I ran a bed and breakfast and ran a pre school in Historic Hawi in the manager’s plantation house. We then moved to Maui where we have been living since 1996, and bought a home in Kula.
I also worked in the mortgage business at 4 Star Mortgage in Kahului Maui. From there, I transitioned into real estate investment; we bought apartment buildings and converted them into condos. I looked for distressed properties and went through the whole process of transforming them, turning them into condos and leasing or selling them. I have also owned a high-end consignment store called La Jolie Maison (the pretty home) where we handled high end furniture, art and antiques. I still get calls to sell art and antiques to this day. I also worked as a trained mediator, which gave me valuable tools for negotiating, and compassion.
After working hard for many years, I took our family and lived in the South of France for 2 years. It was a memorable experience and one that lives deeply in my children and myself. We also lived in Japan for half a year. My children have gone to schools in Thailand and France.
I am now back in the industry I have loved and that is real estate. I bring a wealth of experience from mortgage origination, investment, renovation, condo conversion, and staging and curb appeal. Because I have lived over seas, I understand the international and newly relocated buyer and what it takes to adjust to a new environment.
It is these experiences that make me unique to the real estate purchase. But it is honesty, integrity, trust and dependability and thoroughness with a personal touch that keeps me in business.
I am an avid hiker, traveler, tennis player, lover of good food, conversation and gardening.
